“I try for realism, a lived in quality. I do not do ‘pretty’ or ‘cute’, those qualities are for others. I aim for realism, where one would find dirt and grit. I am most interested in displaying the signs of decay over time.”
It all started with a simple query, “How do you make it old?”. This question was not exactly covered in the course that I was taking at the time, so I decided to investigate. After much study and practice, I may now refer to myself happily as the ‘Queen of Distress’. I like to go over the edge with my artwork, attempting to imagine how something would have looked two hundred years ago compared with its appearance in the present.
Watch out for the famous phrase, “I have a plan!”. Upon hearing this declaration you should know that you’re in for the next year on a project!
